Kylee Alons
NC State College, Raleigh, NC
Kylee Alons is a distinguished collegiate swimmer known for her advocacy for women’s rights in sports. During the 2022 NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving Championships, Kylee faced an unprecedented challenge when Lia Thomas, a trans-identifying male athlete, competed in the women’s events. The inclusion of Thomas created an uncomfortable and unfair environment, particularly in the locker room where Kylee, feeling uneasy about the presence of a male, was forced to change in a storage closet. Competing against Thomas, who had physical advantages, added to her frustration and disillusionment with NCAA policies.
Kylee’s experience highlighted the negative impact of gender ideology on women’s sports, motivating her to speak out against policies that undermine female athletes. As a Riley Gaines Center Ambassador, Kylee is dedicated to raising awareness about these issues and advocating for fairness and safety in women’s sports. The Riley Gaines Center will support her efforts through media training and opportunities to share her story.
