Jessica Tapia

California

Jessica Tapia is a former physical education teacher from the Jurupa Unified School District in California. She gained national attention when she stood up against the district’s gender identity policies, which conflicted with her religious beliefs. Jessica refused to comply with mandates requiring the use of students’ preferred pronouns and access to facilities based on gender identity, leading to her termination. Her legal battle against the district concluded with a $360,000 settlement. Jessica’s story underscores the importance of religious freedom and traditional values in education. As a Riley Gaines Center Ambassador, Jessica will share her experiences and advocate for the protection of these values, inspiring others to stand firm in their beliefs.
